Corby Glen Parish Council
HORSE CHESTNUT TREES, STATION ROAD, CORBY GLEN
You may have read coverage in the press about problems with Horse Chestnuts being affected by a disease known as Bleeding Canker. The Parish Council thought it wise to commission a report on Corby Glen's Horse Chestnuts and, unfortunately, the report received is not very encouraging. In summary, the trees do not present an immediate danger, but it has been recommended that one tree, suffering from advanced Bleeding Canker, be felled and replaced, with a programme being established to replace the others over a 10 year period.
The tree which was identified as suffering from advanced Bleeding Canker has now been felled. The Parish Council plans to replace it in Spring 2012 with a sweet chestnut. The remaining trees comprise six horse chestnuts (conker trees), six sycamores, and one lime.
Meetings are held monthly on every second Wednesday (except August) at the Willoughby Gallery at 8:00 p.m. Members of the public are invited to attend and can participate in a ten minute Open Forum at the commencement of each meeting
